Strain Measurement

Scan Sense has combined its knowledge gained in manufacturing subsea Pressure/Temperature Transducers with its long history of developing Load/Strain measurement sensors to supply innovative solutions for Subsea Strain Measurement.

Utilising tried and tested strain-gauge technology as a platform, Scan Sense delivers bespoke solutions on short delivery times for challenging applications subsea.

Applications include Subsea Structure monitoring, Riser monitoring, and so on.

Example application : Subsea Riser Monitoring

Fitting 4 mechanical displacement sensors (as above), which are based on tried and tested strain-gauge technology, to a pair of robust collars, the strain sensor becomes a key component in a Riser Monitoring System (below left). Designed to be deployed at depths of down to 4000 metres, for periods of 3 months, the package gives an accurate (1%FS) 4-20mA signal to continuously monitor the strain in Subsea Risers.
